Aust. Ch. Alpenhund Brutus Maximus
'Max' (6/11/99 - Alive)

View Pedigree|HipScores|Hip Report
When
looking to find a new dog as a replacement for Bens tri-coloured
Border collie, he came across the BMD in a friend’s dog
book, and when first setting eyes on the Bernese named "Aari" at a dog show, for Ben it was love at first sight.
Max
is the literally the leader of the pack, and as the first born
and eldest dog of 5 years, Max has taken it upon himself to look
out for his extended family. He is dearly loved and the clear
family favourite, due to his striking appearance, governing demeanour,
and contradicting loving temperament.
Both
Max’s Sire, Aust CH Zeigen Van Der Hum, and Dam, Aust CH
Zeigen Utopian Image, achieved their Australian titles and Max
effortlessly achieved his Australian Champion title, including
a 24 point BOB challenge at the 2001 Adelaide Royal, against some
stiff competition,

Aust. Ch. Alpenhund Elite Edition
'Eli' (29/11/02 - 16/9/06)

View
Pedigree|HipScores|HipReport
Eli was sired by Shadow Wizard of Estcarp (imp N.Z) and his dam, Alpenhund Black Musician, is a litter sister to my older boy "Max".
Eli was the first dog bought by Ben with the specific intention of showing. Together
Ben & Eli made a name for themselves within the show world, with
Eli being seen as a good ambassador for the breed, achieving his
Australian Champion, at the tender age of just 18 months old.
Eli was masculine, with lovely bone, sound purposeful movement and displayed good type on
the stack. Eli was slightly
nervous amongst strangers, but with those he felt comfortable with
he was a marvellous loving natured dog.
Early in 2007 Eli was put down due to issues relating to temperament. This is a huge loss to Ben, as Eli was his favourite dog and a great friend. Malicloy is lost without their "Eli McFly".
Many thanks to Ros Catt for entrusting such a special dog to me. He will never be forgotten!

Phoebe
is the first bitch to be owned by Malicloy Kennels and we have high
expectations for what she could potentially produce. We owe a great
deal of thanks to Lyn Brand from Branbern Kennels for entrusting
to us a bitch, which has the benefit of her lifetime's knowledgeable
breeding.
Phoebe's
sire Branbern Abbeys Echo ('Derby') is a multi best in show winner
at both All breeds and Specialty shows and her dam is Branbern Dime
N Chime ('Ziggy') Derby also produced the 2004 best of breed winner
at crufts in England.
We
have been lucky enough to have Phoebe's litter sister 'Hayley' Branbern
Darbie Doll come to live at Malicloy mid 2006, she is making her
presence felt in the SA show scene.

Oleka's Kentucky Sky
'Loui' (31/8/07 - Alive)

Loui is a product of many peoples efforts worldwide. He was bred by and is currently being raised by Angela Evans of "Oleka" Bernese in Pensylvania USA.
Angela has been ever so kind to raise Loui so he can make his big journey to Australia later this year. I am eternally grateful to her and her family for this, as I know how hard it is to raise a dog and then part with them once a bond has been formed.
Loui's sire is "Tschuggen", a dog that I co-handled at the 2007 US National in Louisville, Kentucky (hence Loui's name). He was an amazing dog and he made me proud when we won 1st place in the stud dog class against tough competition.
Loui's dam "Grace" is a beautiful bitch that has an amazing head and gorgeous expression. She is of moderate size but well balanced. Her temperament is second to none, as displayed by her attaining her obedience and carting titles with ease.
Grace' sire (Loui's Grandsire) is a dog called "Christopher" (Keilissa's In White Satin Armour). I still to this day have not set eyes on a more beautiful and more correct Bernese. He apitamises what I love in a bernese. In the 2007 US National, Christopher came 2nd and hence got the first place AOM, a high honour indeed.
I can't express how much I am appreciative to both Eve Menengoz of Sennenhof Kenels, and Angela Evens of Oleka Bernese. Both have been steadfast in there resolve to help me get Loui. I hope he makes you both proud as he makes his debut in Australia hopefully in late 2008.

Aust.Ch. Branbern Royal Garter
'Wilbur' (3/3/05 - Alive)
Wilbur came to us as an 8 week old puppy. To stay with us for showing until he was old enough to go to England. He has a sweet nature whilst retaining some very good breed attributes. Wilbur's best asset is his beautiful nature and correct temperament. Wilbur also has exceptional hips. He is rated in the 100th percentile for his Pennhip results, making him invaluable in any breeding program.
His is a tall dog that will take a while to mature fully, but when he does, will be a great addition to the breed. His easy going temperament is second to none and we can't help but love his "doeful" eyes.
Wilbur attained his Australian Title and won many class in Group awards. At the Adelaide Royal Show in 2007, Wilbur won Dog challenge and then Came Runner Up Best of Breed to Hayley.
Many thanks to Lyn Brand of Branbern Kennels for entrusting such a lovely boy with us.
Wilbur left Malicloy in late 2007 to be with his new family in England. We hope Bernice Mair of "Meadowpark Bernese" has as much fun as we did with Wilbur.

Aust. Ch. Alpenhund ClaudiusCaesar
'Claude' (6/11/00 - Dec.'08)

View Pedigree
At just over 4 years old, Claude has proved to be a great and invaluable companion for Ruth (Ben's Mum), being a very social dog who loves being the object of Ruth’s affections and the centre of attention.
Claude shares a mother with Max and has also achieved his Australian title under the helpful guidance of our friend Jackie Haynen, a Rottweiler handler. Claude is of a similar build to Max but has a stronger head.
Claude at the end of 2007 had to be put down due to Osteosarcoma in his Scapula. He will be sadly missed by Ruth.
